episode 1: ‘ice planet barbarians’

This is happening folks! Thanks for joining me for this bonkers endeavor.

For the first episode, we go over just what the Ice Planet Barbarians series is, how I discovered (and why I can’t leave. it. alone!) and dig into the very first book of the series, Ice Planet Barbarians.

We’ll meet Georgie and Vektal, the de-facto leaders of the tribe; discover the joy of resonance, and, yes, the blue dicks. I know what ya’ll are here for.

Sit back and enjoy! Be sure to listen in next week when I’ll be joined by guests, Bobbi and Ellen from The Lusty Intellectuals.

Got a comment? Question? Correction? Confession? Reach out on Twitter at @iceplanetpod and I may share it on the pod.

This is the first podcast I’ve ever listened to and I really enjoyed it! Good thing you mentioned that the first book is VERY different in tone from the subsequent ones because if I’d started with that one I don’t think I would have continued the series. I get that in order to be realistic about alien abduction (well…realistic might not be the right word) it had to be bad but that bit about Dominique guts me. Whenever I reread I skip to when Vektal finds and…greets Georgie.

Why can’t I download this to Downcast instead of using Spotify?

    • I absolutely love this! It makes me want to reread some of the older book as I havenโ€™t picked them up in years. You did a great job and I canโ€™t wait until the next episode.

You’ve created a wonderful overview of the Ice Planet Barbarian’s series. I learned about your podcast from a Facebook post Ruby Dixon made. This is a nice tribute to her work. I truly enjoy all of Ms. Dixon’s novels and she’s created a vivid interlinked world (via her Corsair’s, Ice Planet Barbarian, Fireblood Dragons, and Prison Planet novels) that are engaging and imaginative.

I thank you for taking the time and effort to create this podcast. It’s the first one that I’ve fully listened to and made a comment. I look forward to future installments.

This made me giggle and remember a lot of things I haven’t read in 3 years. I really want to reread the series from the beginning. You did an awesome job! Thank you!!!

I’m sooo happy you created that podcast. Thank you.
The part of stories like that, when H and h do not understand each other is one of my favourite tropes ever. Love books with that theme.

    • Dani Dani

Thank you! I’m glad you’re enjoying it.

You realize this isn’t an Apple iTunes listing, right? This is my (a.k.a. the woman you’re bitching about in your comment) actual website. If you don’t like the podcast, that’s fine. It is, however, completely unnecessary for you to shit on something I put together for fun in my own comments.

I did the podcast because I really enjoy the series. That doesn’t mean I have to fawn over every word that’s written. At least I had the grace not to show up on Rudy Dixon’s own website and shit on her work.

First time I didn’t struggle too much with a podcast so I’m pretty pleased. I am happy to see people talking about these books that I love because they seem like such a niche thing that few people know about. Hope you enjoy the wider universe than just IPB.

P.S. The fireblood books are really good if you cna get yourself past the communication hump, and it doesn’t stay too long in most books actually. Like you sid about Harlow’s book, the fireblood guys also seem to like learn the word no and stop immediately even if all other communication fails.

I’m currently plowing through this delighful and bonkers series and stumbled upon this wonderful podcast! Can’t wait to listen to more ๐Ÿ™‚ Thanks!
